Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Fashion Review

Category : Mobile Phones, Sony Ericsson

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Fashion is a version of the X10 super phone with interchangeable “fashion” covers (white and pink). Essentially, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is simply a cut down version of the X10, in size only. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini retains all the excellent features of the X10 but in a much in a smaller package.

As you would expect, the styling of the the X10 Mini is exactly the same as its big brother the X10, with the screen dominating the front of the phone and the same three silver buttons below for navigation and calling which also double as user defined function keys when using applications. This really is a small handset, small for any phone but in terms of smart-phones its probably the smallest available on the market.

Of course to have a phone this small, there has to be compromises, in the X10 mini’s case, the price you pay for the compact dimensions is a small screen. At just 2.55 inches, this is possibly the smallest touch screen ever. The resolution of 240 x 320 pixels is good and the sharpness of the display is excellent, however there is no room for a virtual qwerty keyboard for instance. Luckily the screen is really responsive and icons are large enough for trouble free selection.

Sony Ericsson’s latest interface makes it easy to transition between different apps and views (so easy in fact you soon forgive the small screen size). With a logically laid out screen, large icons and one-touch access to a selection of user-defined functions. The amount of features packed into the tiny Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Fashion is mind boggling; a 5 megapixel camera with built in flash and autofocus, an excellent media player, FM radio with RDS, Google Maps and navigation, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and 3G with HSPA!

Advantages: All the features you could ever need in a tiny package, full range of connectivity options, decent camera with flash/autofocus, 3G, Wi-Fi, easy to use interface with good layout and large icons, responsive touchscreen

Disadvantages: Web browsing is slightly limited with small screen despite 3G, no qwerty keyboard, can look a little like a “toy phone”, high prices

In summary, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Fashion is a tiny smartphone with tons of high-spec features and applications. The only real downside is the small screen, but even in this area, Sony Ericsson have cleverly organised the interface to greatly reduce any inconvenience. Exclusively on Orange.
